Taking responsibility for our environment
The Domaine is part of a global eco-responsible approach. As an ambassador for tourism in the Nièvre department, we have a duty to set an example. In a regional nature park, even more than elsewhere, respect for nature and the planet’s resources are essential, and we invite you to take part.
In concrete terms …
- Green spaces: We maintain the grounds by hand, without pesticides or herbicides, with the help of an ESAT (Etablissement et service d’aide par le travail), a local gardener and our plant-loving manager. Many small animals live on the estate (squirrels, hedgehogs, birds, insects, etc.), and we take great care to respect their habitat and peace of mind.
- Residences: Our chalets are designed with robust “4-season” insulation to limit heating consumption, and are protected by a vapour barrier secured by wooden battens at foundation level. They are equipped with presto, double-flow flush systems.
- Partners: We are committed to working with local artisans, retailers and producers, and offer mainly their regional products. Our project also contributes to local socio-economic activity by creating permanent and seasonal jobs.
- Maintenance and hygiene: Our products are natural and/or carry an “eco-bio” label. Packaging consumption is limited: in your residence, you’ll find washing-up liquid and hand soap, as well as body and hair shower soap in bottles. Laundry is managed by a traditional laundry that no longer uses plastic bags.
- Carbon footprint: Most of our products are purchased in France, and the majority of our business vehicles are electric. For residents’ electric vehicles, three charging stations are available nearby (villages of Planchez, Montsauche-les-Settons, Saulieu). We encourage travel by foot, bike or boat!
- Energy: We use low-energy light bulbs and rechargeable batteries for the fire detectors. The dining room and bistro are heated with a pellet stove. And we’re working on reducing electricity consumption on the estate and in the residences.
On vacation, everyone participates:
- Waste sorting is a must. How to sort and where to put your waste? Separate glass, cardboard, PMC (yellow bags) and residual waste (pink bags). See instructions and containers on site.
- In their cottages, everyone turns off the lights when they’re away, closes the windows if the radiators are on, turns down the radiators during the day, prefers to sleep at a low temperature under the comforter, …
- Buy from markets, local grocery stores and seasonal produce.
